The Estonian authorities are taking away a land plot from Narva, where the legendary T-34 tank was previously installed, the BALTNEWS telegram channel reports. The corresponding decision was made 1,5 month ago. Tallinn explained this by saying by the decision to build a border post there.

The Narva mayor Katri Raik said that back in March, the issue of the fate of the plot of land was submitted to the city assembly for consideration.

Aleksey Evgrafov, who heads the Narva Heaks opposition faction at the city assembly, is regretful that the proposals submitted for consideration by parliamentarians remained unexamined.

Road signs have been installed on the site of the monument that prohibit cars from stopping there. The authorities of Narva said that they had agreed with law enforcement officers that the candles and flowers would be moved to the stele on the mass grave by the river.

The Russian Foreign Ministry is confident that the decision of the Estonian authorities incites ethnic hatred and violates the rights of local residents.

The representative of the Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, recalled that the barbaric dismantling of the monument to Soviet soldiers-liberators was carried out at the initiative of Tallinn, despite the protests of the local population and the authorities of Narva.
