The Estonian Ministry of Internal Affairs will use the territory in Narva, where the T-34 monument tank, demolished last year, stood, Baltnews reports. Last Victory Day, residents of the Estonian city, which is home to many Russian speakers, carried flowers to the place where the monument was located.

The Ministry of the Interior plans to build on the territory where the monument was located, an observation post for a part of the city adjacent to the Narva River, which separates Russia and Estonia. For this, the city will be paid a little less than 2,000 euros.

The Narva authorities have been given a month to hand over the land voluntarily, the municipality has the right to file a complaint with the Tallinn Administrative Court.

Earlier, the intentions of the Estonian Ministry of Internal Affairs were subjected to the mayor of Narva, Katri Raik. According to her, the struggle of the city for the monument tank was hard, and the land where it was previously located "became akin to a shrine." According to the head of the city, Narva residents gather at this place every week, bring candles and lay flowers.
