The Russian Embassy in the United States has provided consular services for compatriots living in California, TASS reports. Diplomats worked in the city of San Diego from May, 28 to June, 2. During this time, more than 800 people applied for services. Among them were many families with several children, elderly and disabled people. Because of their health and age, it is difficult for them to get to Washington.

Due to the closure of a number of Russian diplomatic missions in the country at the request of Washington, the Russian Embassy is holding a series of field sessions in US regions far from the capital. Previously, Russian consulates were closed in San Francisco and Seattle. Those that remain - in New York and Houston - are experiencing great difficulties, as Washington has demanded a reduction in the number of employees.

Earlier, the American authorities refused to issue permission to the Russian Consulate General in Houston to hold an off-site reception on February, 6 and 7 in Dallas, where many Russian compatriots live. The session was planned to be held to provide consular assistance.

Prior to this, consular sessions were held in Las Vegas and Salt Lake City.
