Geography Night opens on Friday, June 2, TASS reports. The large-scale educational project is organized by the Russian Geographical Society (RGS). It takes place for the 4th time.
The campaign will start on Friday evening in the Cosmos pavilion at VDNKh exhibition center. Its program includes numerous creative, scientific, and educational events.
Geography Night will run from June, 2 to June, 4. It is dedicated to the popularization of geography, Russian tourism, and also promotes the natural and ethnographic heritage of Russia.
Everyone will be able to meet with cosmonauts Denis Matveev and Sergei Korsakov. Another cosmonaut, Fyodor Yurchikhin, will host the meeting. Tomorrow, June 3, young artists will be invited to the headquarters of the RGS, where they will draw pictures with travelers - fairy-tale characters. They will also be shown RGS' virtual films.
An interactive exhibition is scheduled to open on June, 4. There, the participants of the expeditions will talk about their work and show how to operate the equipment. The screening of The Great Northern Route documentary and the meeting with its creator, documentary filmmaker, traveler, RGS member Leonid Kruglov is also planned.
Gorky Park and the South River Station will also serve as Geography Night venues. In addition, they will open throughout the country and abroad.
