Yerevan Russian Drama Theater named best Russian theater abroad

The Audience Choice Award, "Theatrical Star",  was awarded the day before, on December 5. The solemn ceremony took place at the Vakhtangov Theater, TASS reports. The best were determined in almost 20 categories, including the best Russian professional and amateur theatres, as well as directors, actors and social projects in the theatre. They were chosen by the audience. 

The Stanislavsky Russian Drama Theater in Yerevan won in the Best Russian Theater Abroad nomination. The award was received by the artistic director of the creative team Karen Nersisyan. In addition, the shortlist included the Italian Center for International Theater and the Lermontov Russian Drama Theater from Kazakhstan.

"War and Peace" by the Vakhtangov Theater was named the best performance.

Last year, the title of "Best Theater Abroad" went to the Russian Drama Theater of Lithuania, and a year earlier - to the Parisian children's theater studio Aprelik.
