The state corporation Roscosmos has presented illustrations showing what the new Russian service station is going to look like in orbit, Gazeta.ru reports.

According to Vladimir Solovyov, who holds the post of chief designer of the Energia Rocket and Space Corporation, the new station will replace the Russian segment of the ISS. Unlike the existing Russian section, there will be no habitation module there. Solovyov explained that the approach to the development of the space sphere has changed. The stay of a cosmonaut in orbit is associated with very high costs. It's time to start thinking about a new philosophy of manned flight. It will make it possible to implement a system of visited stations without reducing the effectiveness of targeted work carried out in orbit.

Last autumn, it became known that the deployment of the new station would begin in 5-6 years. According to the head of Roskosmos, Dmitry Rogozin, this station will become the prototype of modules that will go to other planets in decades.
