Roerich's and Shishkin's canvases put up for auction in London

Works by Russian artists Ivan Shishkin and Nikolai Roerich will become the top lots at MacDougall's auction, TASS reports. It will enter the week of Russian actions that will be held in mid-October in the British capital.

Among other things, the Summer Afternoon by the River and the Pine Forest by Shishkin will be put up for sale. The cost of each of them can exceed 700,000 dollars. Roerich's Pechora. Entrance to the Monastery is also concidered a very interesting lot. Previously, it was considered lost.

In addition, Konstantin Korovin's painting Okhotino will go under the hammer. Its estimate can reach 650,000 dollars.

The auction also includes paintings by contemporary artists. Among them are works by Mikhail Shvartsman and Dmitry Zhilinsky.

Traditionally, the Russian week is held in Britain twice a year: in spring and autumn. It brings together the auction houses of Sotheby's, MacDougall's, Christie's and Bonhams. Last year, the proceeds of trades in Russian art amounted to almost 49 million dollars.
