The first organizational meeting dedicated to the opening of the Center of the Russian Geographical Society (RGS) was held in Paris. The center is being created by Russian compatriots under the auspices of the Russian Center for Science and Culture in Paris, the Rossotrudnichestvo website reports.

The participants agreed that the creation of the RGS Center in France will contribute to the dissemination of the achievements of Russian science and culture in the country and other European states.

The tasks of the French center of the RGS will be to unite Russian compatriots and Frenchmen interested in science and geography, as well as to attract specialists from France and other European countries to the research activities of the RGS.

As part of the work of the center, regular meetings will be held with prominent travelers and scientists from Russia and France. The creators of the representative office have already drawn up a program of future meetings, having received the consent of the members of the RGS.
