Russian Geographical Society branch opened in Trivandrum

A branch of the Russian Geographical Society (RGS) started its work in India, TASS reports. It was established in the the Russian House located in  Trivandrum, in the southern part of the country. According to Ratish Nair, the head of the Rossotrudnichestvo representative office , honorary consul of the Russian Federation in Trivandrum,team of seven specialists was brought together at the center. It is headed by Sandhya Nair, Professor of History at the University of Kerala.

The Center will operate in accordance with the plans of the RGS. The center's primary focus will revolve around promoting awareness of the significance of environmental protection. An early milestone in this endeavor is the organization of a conference addressing the global warming issue.

Participants in the ceremony included students and teachers from local universities, other professionals, and general public.  They also emphasized that RGS played a pivotal role, fostering a genuine concern for the preservation of nature.
