Festival of Nations in Italy dedicated to Russia

The Festival of Nations kicked off this weekend in Citta di Castello, TASS reports. It has been held for more than 50 years, the current festival has become the 53rd in a row. Russia was chosen as the main topic of the forum.

According to Aldo Sisillo, who heads the festival, the main focus will be on the art of the first half of the last century. According to him, the local audience will get acquainted with musical trends that began to develop actively at the turn of the 19th - 20th centuries, including the works by Rachmaninov, Scriabin, Prokofiev. The program will include a literary and musical evening, where lines by Mayakovsky, Tsvetaeva, Kharms will be read.

A separate evening will be devoted to the work of the composer Nikolai Medtner. It will be attended by the writer Luigi Ferrari, who wrote a novel inspired by the music of the Russian composer and the culture of Russia in the 20th century.

The festival opened with a performance by Russian pianist Dmitry Shishkin. Excerpts from operas by Russian composers will be performed by opera soloist Maria Komarova. The festival program will also include the Petya and the Wolf educational project.

The Festival of Nations will end on August 29.
