Lomonosov Moscow State University took 193rd place in the ranking of the Center for World University Ranking (CWUR), going 29 positions up compared to the previous rating. The list of 2,000 universities from 94 countries includes 46 Russian universities, RIA Novosti reports.

Moscow State University became the leader of the Russian CWUR list. The rating is unique in that it takes into account the quality of education, the demand for graduates among employers, as well as scientific activities.

The head of CWUR, Nadim Mahassen, said that this year’s rating proved that “Russia has a good higher education system” and increased funding will allow Russian universities to compete successfully with the leading universities in the world.

Moscow State University has shown growth in such areas as “demand for graduates” and “scientific activity”. The authors of the study note that scientific activity in Russia has suffered from quarantine measures related to the coronavirus pandemic. The humanities were declared the most affected areas, while the pandemic least affected the scientific areas of the medical and technical domains.
