About 400 participants from all Russian regions were united by the Intermuseum festival. It started on Wednesday, May 27, according to TASS. This year the festival will be the 22nd in a row and for the first time will be held online.

The only festival in the world that gathers professional museum workers over the years of its existence has turned into an effective platform for communication between members of the museum community. It is a venue to meet with colleagues, discuss current issues or new ideas. The festival presents the most interesting projects of leading Russian museums. Discussions, round tables, seminars and many other events and actions are held, where leading Russian and foreign experts get acquainted with the best museum experience.

The festival program is eventful. It includes business webinars and an interactive museum exposition. The work of institutions to preserve the memory of the Great Patriotic War and to restore the objects of cultural heritage directly during the hostilities will be presented during the festival. The theme of this year’s show is Keepers of the World.

Guests of the Intermuseum will get acquainted with stories about museums that survived the war, about museum employees who fought at the front, and learn about saved masterpieces and artifacts. All virtual stands, as well as other festival materials, will be available until the end of 2020.

By tradition, a partner region participates in each forum. This year, the title is taken by Kaluga Oblast. Museums of Austria, the USA, Germany, Italy, France, and other countries are taking part in the festival this year.

The business program includes round tables, thematic sessions, discussions and lectures. And the traditional inter-museum competition will practically not change its traditional format. The size of the monetary prize remained the same. will also be preserved. The finalists will only present their presentations on the Internet.

Russkiy Mir reported that the jury, led by the director of the Pushkin Museum Evgeny Bogatyrev, would determine the best in four categories. These are “Educational and outreach activities”, “Research and restoration work”, “Interregional interaction” and “Work with special audiences”.
