The Siege Hermitage multimedia exhibition will open in Barcelona after the quarantine measures caused by the coronavirus pandemic are withdrawn.

The project is being implemented by the State Hermitage Museum, the Russian House in Barcelona Foundation, and St. Petersburg State University. The exhibition will be dedicated to the 75th anniversary of victory in the Great Patriotic War, the website of the university reports. The project will tell in detail about the feat of the Hermitage staff to save masterpieces of art during the siege of Leningrad and the Great Patriotic War. The exposition will include archival photographs and documents.

Viewers will learn about people who, in difficult years and often under shelling, continued their scientific and teaching activities and did everything possible so that future generations could see the treasures of the Hermitage. Thanks to the staff, the museum was able to open in November 1945.

The staff of the Russian House in Barcelona Foundation, at which the Russian Center, opened by the Russkiy Mir Foundation, operates, is taking an active part in the preparation of the exhibition.
