Parents of schoolchildren, who are taking part in American educational programs, have contacted the Russian Foreign Ministry, the agency’s representative Maria Zakharova said. It turned out that the children went not only to the United States, but also to Argentina, as well as to Costa Rica, TASS reports.

According to Zakharova, at least two young people still remain in Argentina. Another student is in Costa Rica. The Foreign Ministry once again emphasized that neither this, nor other similar projects with US participation had been approved by the Russian Foreign Ministry.

Maria Zakharova once again urged to be more attentive to such projects. Children should not be allowed to go abroad as part of unverified and dubious educational programs. Their organizers, she stressed, refuse to be responsible for the students they accept. To avoid such excesses in the future, the representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs appealed to parents, guardians, schools and supervisory authorities with a request to be vigilant and responsible.

Russkiy Mir reported that the children went to the United States as early as the autumn, but the Russian Foreign Ministry was not notified about the trip. Diplomats had to independently search for children who were scattered throughout American territory, many of them wanted to return home as quickly as possible. Some teens had to get to New York with a lot of changes. The embassy pays for their transportation costs, said Russian Ambassador Anatoly Antonov. The diplomatic mission staff constantly kept in touch with their parents. At the same time, the State Department withdrew from solving this problem.
