The Russian Foreign Ministry appealed to all who have information about schoolchildren from Russia who are in a difficult situation in the United States, according to RIA Novosti.

The MFA’s spokesperson, Maria Zakharova, recalled that more than 70 young Russians were overseas in a very difficult situation. They went to the United States in autumn as participants in the educational program. The Russian Foreign Ministry wasn’t notified about their participation in the program. Now the program is curtailed due to the spread of the coronavirus infection.

Russian diplomats in Washington were informed about the situation by the State Department, who was the curator of the Secondary School Student Program.

In addition, other underage Russian citizens, who participated in American programs, appeal for help on social networks. Many children are literally on the street.

The Foreign Ministry and Russian diplomatic institutions are doing everything possible to find children. The department is seeking complete information about the students, the State Department and the US Embassy in Moscow were made demarches. But an objective reaction has not yet been obtained. “The host party does not bear any responsibility for the children, and so far they have not even provided lists and information about the place of their stay,” the representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry said.
