The most famous and reputable museums and theaters of the world have intensified their work online because of the forced closure due to the spread of the coronavirus. Institutions conduct live broadcasts from performances and online tours of exhibitions, many leading museums and theaters have opened archives of video recordings for free access Culture.RF website reports.

The Virtual Russian Museum website provides virtual tours along the halls of the famous museum. There are also online lectures, photos and descriptions of exhibits of the Russian Museum. The Moscow Museum of Modern Art Garage has opened online projects, conducts live broadcasts, and provides electronic books (in art and not only) in Russian and English for free reading.

Russkiy Mir reported that the Mariinsky Theater launched a series of online broadcasts of its classic productions. The Cinderella ballet and the Tale of Tsar Saltan opera were broadcasted online. The Tretyakov Gallery daily conducts online broadcasts from its rooms, showing paintings selected by users.

Leading world museums have launched new projects. Employees of the National Gallery of Art in Washington conduct online tours of the exhibitions and talk about the most significant exhibits in the collection. The German website Geo.de offers to virtually visit cultural institutions in Mexico City, Seoul, Amsterdam, London. Virtual tours of the museum halls are posted on the sites of museums in Berlin, Tokyo, Vienna, Munich and other cities of the world.
