The Mariinsky Theater has opened the Art Online project, within the framework of which the best performances of the team will be screened on the theater’s website. The Cinderella with Diana Vishneva became the first participant of the project. The theater plans to conduct free online broadcasts of performances and concerts, TASS reports.

The director of the Mariinsky Theater Valery Gergiev announced the creation of the project in a video message to the audience. According to him, artists and musicians are likely to perform in the halls without spectators, knowing that thousands of people are waiting for a meeting with classical music.

The conductor called the project “an interesting journey”, opening up new possibilities. He assured that the theater, which had suspended its work in connection with the spread of the coronavirus, will return to full-fledged work in the near future.

The opening of the Art Online platform was a joint project of Sberbank and the Okko service; it is a free access media library. The broadcasting will carry on March 21 with the screening of the Anna Karenina ballet with Ulyana Lopatkina in the title role.

On March 29, the Bolshoi Theater will present online broadcast of the Romeo and Juliet ballet on its website.
