The Russian authorities temporarily imposed a ban on air traffic between Russia and Iran, according to RIA Novosti. The reason for the decision was an increase in the number of cases of coronavirus infection in this country. Restrictions will come into force on Friday, February 28. Only two airlines still operate the flights: Russian Aeroflot and Iranian Mahan Air.

Earlier, Russia suspended the issuance of visas to Iranian citizens. Starting February 28, only business and humanitarian Russian visas can be obtained.

All passengers traveling to and from Iran will pass through the capital's Sheremetyevo Airport. Terminal F is allocated for them. It is also intended for flights from China. All planes from South Korea and Italy will land there.

Rostourism advises residents to cancel trips to Iran, Italy and South Korea.

Russkiy Mir reported that the air traffic with South Korea was previously suspended in Russia. According to recent reports, the number of patients infected with Covid-19 in South Korea exceeded one thousand two hundred people. More than ten deaths have already been reported.

The restrictions previously imposed by the Russian government in connection with the outbreak in China will be extended until April 1.
