Russian dancers perform at Ballet Icons Gala in London

Ballet Icons Gala took place on January 26 in London, TASS reports. The evening dedicated to the art of choreography has long been turned into an annual tradition. The first time it was held a dozen and a half years ago.

Famous dancers from the Bolshoi, Mariinsky and Mikhailovsky theaters, the London Royal Ballet, from Italian, German, and Dutch creative groups took to the stage.

The concert program included excerpts from the classic performances of Sleeping Beauty, Don Quixote, Corsaire, and many others, as well as modern works. The ballet lovers saw three premieres. The soloist of the London Royal Ballet Natalia Osipova, along with Jason Kittelberger from the Stuttgart Ballet, danced the Once Upon a Time to the music of Jean Sibelius. Luisa Ieluzzi and Giuseppe Picone from Naples performed Elegy to the music of Rachmaninov. Maia Makhateli and James Stout showed a fragment from the Frida ballet. The premiere of the performance is scheduled for next month in Amsterdam.

The stars of Russian ballet also performed in London. The Bolshoi Theater was represented by Maria Alexandrova, Ekaterina Krysanova, Artyom Ovcharenko, Vladislav Lantratov. Ekaterina Kondaurova, Xander Parish, Timur Askerov arrived from the Mariinsky Theater.

According to Olga Balakleets, the head of Ensemble Productions, which organized the ballet evening, the public and experts agree that this festival, which unites dance stars from around the world, is a very noticeable event in the cultural life throughout Europe .
