Cross Year of Culture of Russia and Turkey to end with final concert

The concert called Russian Mosaic will be held on Wednesday, January 8, in Istanbul, according to the website of the Ministry of Culture. The program, which will present the diversity and richness of Russian art, will be the final event of the Cross Year of Culture of Russia and Turkey. The heads of cultural departments of both countries will visit the event as guests of honor.

Famous Russian art groups and performers will take the stage of one of the largest concert venues. Among them are the Pyatnitsky folk choir, Gaskarov folk dance ensemble, Nokhcho folk song and dance ensemble, singer Elmira Kalimullina, balalaika player Viktor Olehnovich and master of throat singing Olena Uutai.

According to Russia's culture minister Vladimir Medinsky, the key tasks of the cross year were the popularization of cultural heritage and the development of tourism potential. He is confident that this helps to strengthen human, friendly relations between the peoples of both countries.

Russkiy Mir reported that there were several dozen events in the program of the Year of Culture, including concerts, exhibitions and performances. Turkey has become an honored guest of the Moscow International Film Festival. The week of Russian cinema also took place in Turkey. The Tretyakov Gallery showed paintings from its collections in Istanbul. According to Russian president Vladimir Putin, the cross-year contributes to the expansion of cultural exchanges, contacts in the field of education, science and tourism.

The Cross Year of Culture opened with the Troy opera, which was performed at the Bolshoi Theater.
