Controversial banner dedicated to Stalin raises eyebrows

27.12.2019

A huge banner depicting Joseph Stalin dressed like the Terminator, complete with a leather jacket and sunglasses, and wielding an AK-47 while captioned: “I'll be back” (in English) and “75 years of the Great Victory” (in Russian) appeared at Gidrotorf plant wall in in the Nizhny Novgorod Region.

The controversial image raised a few eyebrows. Some users disliked the banner, saying they’d rather not see the return of Stalin or his rule. However, the banner has reportedly won an online poll with an overwhelming majority of 4900 voters expressing favour in the artwork, Capitalmoscow Instagram account reports. Gidrotorf urban locality population is reportedly some 7500 adults.

It needs to be mentioned that on December, 21 banners with the same slogan were seen at the Red Square demonstration dedicated to Stalin's birthday.
