Russian journalist Kirill Vyshinsky released from custody, RIA Novosti reports. On Wednesday, August 28, the court decided to change the preventive measure and release the journalist under personal guarantee. Now he is obliged to appear at interrogations and in court upon request.
Vyshinsky himself expressed hope for a fair decision on his complaint about the extension of the period of arrest. In total, he spent more than four hundred days in custody.
The appeal was earlier postponed several times under various pretexts.
Cyril Vyshinsky did not talk about the issues he had discussed with the Russian Commissioner for Human Rights, Tatyana Moskalkova. She visited Kiev a few days ago. Vyshinsky only noted that there was no talk of an exchange, since he himself had already refused it. The journalist also does not believe that the change in the preventive measure is connected with her visit.

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova then called the court decision "a howling shame." These were the “European values” in Ukraine, she concluded. Russian ombudsman Tatyana Moskalkova thinks the verdict was expected. She believes that the court was guided not by legal motives, but by political conjuncture.
