The new members of Verkhovna Rada must wisely use the credit of trust received from the Ukrainian people and apply it for peaceful purposes and for the benefit of the entire population of the country. This is how Russian Foreign Ministry commented on the results of the extraordinary parliamentary elections in Ukraine. MFA noted that the assessment of the new authorities will depend on the results of their work.

It should be recalled that according to preliminary results, five political parties enter Verkhovna Rada. The leader is the Servant of the People party led by the new president Vladimir Zelensky. It was supported by more than 42% of voters. Opposition Platform - For Life party is taking the second place with almost 13% of Ukrainians voting for it. This political force stands for the normalization of relations with Russia.

It is significant that nationalist forces have no support from the residents. The European Solidarity party of the former President, Petro Poroshenko, was not able to achieve high results either. And the radicals from Freedom and other extremists did not make their way to the Rada at all.

These facts prove that the population is tired of the policy of intimidation and terror, which the previous authorities adhered to.

Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs called the election held the “vote of hope” .

The speeches of the officials show that the elections were held without serious violences, but the final conclusion on the “purity” of the electoral process can only be obtained by receiving reports from international monitoring missions.

Foreign Ministry expressed regret that there were no Russians among the observers. And the refusal to open polling stations on Russian territory created an obstacle for three million Ukrainian citizens to exercise their right and vote in elections.

Russian Foreign Ministry has promised to continue to monitor how the situation in Ukraine will evolve.
