The short-sightedness of the Georgian authorities will complicate any attempts to return relations between Moscow and Tbilisi to an acceptable level, Nino Burjanadze, who heads the opposition party United Georgia, said. In her opinion, it is very difficult to restore relations even to the position that existed a few days ago, the Izvestia newspaper writes. It will take a lot of effort as the recent events have thrown the countries far back, the politician is sure.

There is no doubt, the former head of the Georgian parliament believes, that the degree of hysteria directed against Russia is being warmed up by the special services of the United States. Mikheil Saakashvili will do his best to make the most of the protests taking place in the country. He will make every effort to ensure that the course of Georgian policy has an anti-Russian orientation, Burjanadze added.

The politician is convinced that the cancellation of direct air communication between Russia and Georgia will lead to large losses for the Georgian economy. I would like to hope that Moscow will limit itself only to these measures, Burjanadze has emphasized.

Russkiy Mir reported that the protests swept Tbilisi when the radicals opposed the participation of deputies of the Russian State Duma in a meeting of the Inter-Parliamentary Assembly of Orthodoxy. Radically minded individuals attacked the parliament building, where delegates from our country were located. More than two hundred people were injured, over three hundred were detained in clashes between protesters and law enforcement officers
