Film version of Vakhtangov Theater’s play shown in US, Canada and UK

The Smile Upon Us, Lord performance of Moscow Vakhtangov Theater, with which the theater toured the USA in 2015 and the UK in 2019, returns to these countries in the form of a performance film shot by an international film crew. The Stage Russia HD project of showing movie versions of Russian performances abroad, which is gaining popularity in different countries of the world, started several years ago with the Eugene Onegin play by Vakhtangov Theater, the website of Coordination Council of Russian Compatriots of the USA reports.

The Smile Upon Us, Lord performance  will be shown in cinemas in more than ten US cities, such as  Boston, San Francisco, Chicago and others, as well as in Toronto and London. Rimas Tuminas staged the play; Vladimir Simonov, Alexey Guskov and Viktor Sukhorukov, whose acting has already been noted by the American press, play the leading roles. 

According to Tuminas, the play tells about the road to Promised Land, which clears the one who comes. The Director of Stage Russia HD Eddie Aronoff emphasized that the authors of the movie managed to concentrate the viewer's attention on certain episodes that are important for understanding. 

Note that within the framework of this project, viewers in the US and the UK will be able to see the movie version of Anna Karenina musical by the Moscow Operetta Theater in March.
