From Non-Conformism to Feminisms: Russian Women Artists exhibited in the US

From Non-Conformism to Feminisms: Russian Women Artists from the Kolodzei Art Foundation art show at the Museum of Russian Art (TMORA) in Minneapolis, US, is coming to conclusion on February, 10. TMORA is the only North America’s major museum dedicated o Russian art, history, and culture.

Kolodzei Art Foundation brought works by three generations of female Russian artists of different levels. The exhibition includes painting, works on paper, photography, video, interactive installations. Artworks represent several stages in the evolution of non-conformist and  independent art in Russia. Olga Bulgakova, Tatiana Antoshina, Lydia Masterkova, Irene Caesar and Alexandra Dementieva range in age from 30 to 80+, representing several stages in the evolution of nonconformist and independent art in Russia. 

Their works highlight Russian alternative culture, tracing its development from Krushchev’s Thaw to the art of the post-Soviet decade and contemporary developments.
