Seoul has removed the arrest from the Russian Sevastopol ship, TASS reports. It was detained a few days ago in the South Korean port of Pusan. According to the Russian embassy in Seoul, there are no more suspicions to the ship, the ban on leaving the port has been canceled. The diplomats explained that all departments were informed about this. Sevastopol is able to leave the dock at any time.
Previously, the Gudzon shipping company which owns the vessel fell under the US sanctions. Washington introduced these restrictive measures at the end of August. Gudzon suspected to be engaged in the fuel supply to North Korea.
On October 1, the South Korean Ambassador Woo Yoon-geun was summoned to the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Moscow demanded to lift the ban as soon as possible.
Russian Consul in Pusan Roman Bykov said that Sevastopol had come to the port more than a month and a half ago. It is located in Pusan for repairs. The vessel plans to leave after they are completed. According to the diplomat, now they have already been finished. Fourteen crew members remain on board of the cargo ship, all of them are Russian nationals.
