St. Petersburg museums to exhibit 100 masterpieces in Palermo

Italians will see the most significant exhibits from the collections of St. Petersburg museums-reserves located in the suburbs of the Northern capital. Peterhof, Tsarskoe Selo, Pavlovsk and Gatchinawill provide the art objects, TASS reports.

An exhibition is entitled The Age of Museums. 100 masterpieces of the imperial residences of Russia. Peterhof. Tsarskoe Selo. Pavlovsk. Gatchina. It will take place in the city of Palermo and start work on October 11 in the Sant’Elia palace. It will be timed to coincide with the 100th anniversary of the imperial family former residences as museums.

Each museum is planned to send twenty-five exhibits.

According to Elena Kalnitskaya, the head of the Peterhof museum, the preparation process lasted for a long time but now the finale approaches. During the preparation the exhibition was decided to show the originals and the best tings. So, the exhibition entirely corresponds to its name.

The event will hold a large-scale multimedia section about the history of museums-reserves creating. They received the status of museums in 1918, after the October Revolution. The museum and theater project named To Keep Forever will become the central event of the anniversary year in St. Petersburg. It will be launched on September 18 in the Manege central exhibition hall.
