The second international charity festival of Christian culture Russia-Greece. Together Through the Centuries takes place in the city of Kerkyra on Greek Corfu island, TASS reports. The festival is timed to coincide with St. Spiridon memory day who is one of the most revered saints in Russia. This year the forum is dedicated to the 190th anniversary of the diplomatic relations establishment between Russia and Greece.

The program includes concerts of Russian and Greek creative groups, worship services and a religious procession. Exhibitions on Russian admiral Fyodor Ushakov and the Head of the first Greek government Ioannis Kapodistrias are opeden as well.

Several centuries ago the island of Corfu was under the rule of the Venetians, and in 1797 it was conquered by France. In 1799 the Russian sailors led by Vice Admiral Fyodor Ushakov liberated the island. The naval commander entrusted Kapodistrias to write a new Greek constitution and took part in its drafting.

Participants of the forum laid flowers to the monument of Kapodistrias. Everyone could visit an exhibition dedicated to the story of his life.

The forum is also timed to coincide with the opening of the children's drawings Fyodor Ushakov - the Holy Russian admiral exhibition. Greece has a great respect for this historical figure. A decade and a half ago a monument to the liberator of Greece was erected on Corfu.

The organizers are sure that the forum has turned into a notable event in the public life of both Greece and Russia. It is aimed at improving mutual understanding and consolidation of the Orthodox world. The Russian-Greek relations are built on a solid foundation of the mutual cultural influence, the Orthodox worldview and spiritual commonality.
