Music festival opens in Verbier, Switzerland today, July 19th.  This festival celebrates 25-years jubilee today. At the opening the Mariinsky Theater music director Valery Gergiev will be on stage. The Verbier Orchestra under his baton will play pieces of Felix Mendelssohn, Leonard Bernstein, Nikolay Rimsky-Korsakov in Salle des Combins, RIA Novosti reports.

Such recognized colleagues as Yuri Bashmet, Martha Argerich, Christof Baratti and other leading musicians will perform on one stage with Valery Gergiev.

Executive Director of the festival Martin Engström marked importance of  interaction between Russian director and Switzerland orchestra, noting that the young talents “have unique opportunity to study from Valery Gergiev.”
