Official Vilnius has put every effort into leading Russian-Lithuanian relations to a deadlock, according to Russia’s Ambassador to Lithuania Alexander Udaltsov. In his opinion, it is done deliberately and intentionally, IA Sputnik informs. Ambassador believes that we can forget about any improvements in this direction. Diplomat has added that this would not happen while the present Lithuanian Foreign Minister holds his office.
Lithuania’s Prime Minister Saulius Skvernelis and Foreign Minister Linas Linkevicius appointed a meeting with Lithuania’s Ambassadors to Moscow, Minsk, Brussels, Kishinev, Tbilisi and Kiev to discuss improving relations between the countries.

After the meeting was over, Lithuania’s Prime Minister claimed that relations with Russia could be improved until the corresponding initiative comes from Moscow. He has vehemently denied suppositions that similar steps should be undertaken by the Lithuanian authorities too.

Alexander Udaltsov has mentioned that it is not clear why this pointless meeting was required at all, provided the authorities had declared that they should forget about improvement of the bilateral relations beforehand. “Apparently, the reason for this meeting was to throw another portion of dirt onto our country? Well, there is no point in calling a meeting to do that. They are throwing dirt at us permanently and even adamantly,” the diplomat added.
