World community and International institutes should give an esteem to one more march of the Waffen SS legion, according to Russian Foreign Ministry, which has condemned this disgraceful concourse, TASS reports.

Russian diplomats have noted that criminals with arms wet to the elbows with blood of the civil population were again praised in the center of Riga. They were involved in annihilation of the Jewish population, took part in various retribution operations and committed mass crimes against humanity.

Meanwhile the deputies of the ruling coalition were taking care of these “innocent victims and defenders of freedom”.

Such gatherings with participation of the political establishment representatives disgrace modern Europe. They give rise to nothing but disgust in Russia as well as blasphemous attempts of giving this day an official status.

Note that Waffen SS Latvian legion marches praising the fascists are organized on March 16 every year. Waffen SS are presented in Riga as fighters for the country’s freedom neglecting the fact that these SS soldiers were acknowledged military criminals by Nuremberg international military tribunal. After Latvia’s detachment from USSR, March 16 was an official commemorative date for several years. Later this date was excluded from the list of commemorative dates due to criticism from the West.

Anti-fascist Latvians conducted single strikes against marches of former Latvian legionaries. Several dozens of people gathered near the Freedom monument with banners saying They fought for Adolf Hitler and They helped the Nazis to occupy Latvia.
