Zagitova and Medvedeva win Gold and Silver at Winter Olympics

Russian figure skater Alina Zagitova took the gold at the Winter Olympics in PyeongСhang, TASS reports. This medal is the first one for Russian athletes team.

Zagitova leaded in the free-skating program with a score of 239.57 points, while her training partner Evgenia Medvedeva, took the silver medal with 238.26 points.

Alina Zagitova is only 15 years old. The fans Olympic Champion call her “Plisetskaya on ice” in remembrance of the outstanding Russian ballerina Maya Plisetskaya.

Let us remember, both Zagitova and Medvedeva set the world’s in the short program two days ago. Both athletes have been coached by Eteri Turberidze. In the team competition both athletes received silver medals.

The Russian team has the 15th place in the medal standings. It owns one gold, five silver and 8 bronze medals. Norway, Germany and Canada hold first three positions.
