Presidential elections campaign starts in Russia

Russian President AdministrationPresidential election campaign officially kicked off in Russia on December 18, RIA Novosti informs. The decree of the Upper House of Russian Parliament was published in Russian Newspaper. Presidential elections were scheduled for March 18.

Starting December 18, all candidates who are going to run for Presidential term in 2018 can open campaign for their presidential nomination and submit documents to the Central Election Commission.

The Chairperson of Central Election Commission Ella Pamfilova has mentioned earlier that at present there are more than twenty candidates for Russian President’s office. It is worth reminding that the acting President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin has also claimed his intention to run for the new President’s term. He will take part in elections as an independent self-nominated candidate.


The Central Election Commission will get finances from the budget today in the amount of two hundred and fifty million dollars. The head of the Central Election Commission has remarked that the election system is totally ready for conduction of elections.

Information service center of the Central Election Commission starts its work today. Each voter will be able to get an answer to any question concerning the forthcoming elections by calling 8 (800) 707-20-18.

The Russian citizens will be able to get information about their voting district where they can vote even without permanent residence. Rostelecom has advised that the center will use a robot – platform for identification of speech able to take 5 thousand telephone calls simultaneously.
