Ovechkin hits 578th goal to enter top 20 NHL scorers

Flickr/Keith AllisonRussian hockey player Alexander Ovechkin has entered the list of twenty best hockey scorers over the entire history of National Hockey League, TASS informs. Washington Capitals forward kicked into the San Jose’s gates his twenties' goal in this season to occupy twentieth place in the ranking. The domestic match was finished with score 4:1. Ovechkin became the author of triumphal goal and was acknowledged the second star of the day.

This goal enabled thirty-two-year-old Russian player to become a leader of NHL scorers’ rankings in 2017/18 season. He left behind another Russian hockey player Nikita Kucherov playing for Tampa Bay. Kucherov kicked only nineteen goals. Overall Washington captain’s collection consists of twenty goals and eight brilliant passes.

Alexander Ovechkin played nine hundred and forty nine matches in NHL and hit five hundred and seventy eight goals.

It is worth reminding that he became the best forward for twentieth times in a row setting a new record of NHL. Alexander Ovechkin has been playing for NHL since 2005. This year, he was included into the list of one hundred greatest NHL players over the entire history.
