Procession in support of Russian education to be held in Latvia

Event organizer, the Latvian association for support of Russian schools has marked that authorities should recall the Second article of the Latvian Republic Constitution where is written that the constitution belongs to people. Russian minority activists declare that they habe right to decide which language to use for teaching their kids.

The action will be symbolically called Light Beam Against the Darkness. Due to this, future participants have to bring flashlights or electronic gadgets. Action starts after the sunset next to the Latvian Education Ministry. Coordinating request to be send to Riga City Council.

Let us remember, Latvian Ministry of Education plans to officially introduce Latvian language in all secondary schools starting 2020/2021. This initiative was criticized by national minorities' representatives. Russian State Duma stated that it comes in contradiction with UN Convention, Latvian Constitution, and basic EU laws.
