International Quilt Festival Soul of Russia will go on from 10th till 16th of August in Suzdal, the capital of the “Golden ring of Russia”. Patchwork masters from all over Russia and also Germany, France, Japan, Korea, Belorussia, Ukraine, Latvia and CIS countries are coming to this major gathering. The showcase of the beauty and uniqueness of the handcraft called patchwork or quilting all over the world will unite the best artisans.

“Connection of times. From the past into the future” – that’s the main theme of the festival. As per organizers, the event will provide a “wider glance at the versatility of the modern life, find something to pass on to the future generations.” Authors of the best works will be granted with the Soul of Russia prizes and also are going to be invited to the Quilt festival in Tokyo.

There will be more than 100 master-classes for kids and adults. On August 13th participants will have a chance to walk across the Quilted Field – 1-by-1 meter quilts sewed by the quilters from different countries laid out in a chess order on the territory of the Suzdal’s wooden Architecture Museum. Quilting is mostly female territory. Despite of that, a contest for quilt male artists is also included in the program. A separate contest named “Fashion in patchwork style” will be held for young creative artisans.

At the Merchant Square people will be celebrating with a fair, costume processions, and street concert.
