Initiators of Immortal Regiments in Russia and Italy agree on cooperation

22.03.2017

World Coordination Council of Russian Compatriots All-Russian movement Immortal Regiments of Russia and movement Immortal Regiments of Italy signed a collaboration agreement in Verona, according to World Coordination Council of Russian Compatriots living abroad.

The deputy of the State Duma Nikolay Zemtsov representing the Russian side commented contentedly that the agreement is to connect Russian and Italian people, especially those who try to guard memories about the war and the fallen soldiers fighting fascism.

The founder of Immortal Regiments of Italy Anna Maria Zilly mentioned in her speech after the agreement was signed that the Italian Opposition was one of the strongest forces in Europe; it comprised captive Soviet warriors who could run away from the fascists and played a key part in some guerrilla bands. She reminded to the audience that Soviet participants of the Opposition were bravely defending Italian freedoms and were awarded with medals and orders of this country for that.

Let us remind you that the similar agreement was signed by Immortal Regiments of Russia and Russian – Armenian Youth Unity.

Krasnoyarsk feels like Florence in some ways. It can be admired from lovely observation decks on the hills. There is a picture-perfect river that divides the city, although the Yenisei is three times wider than the Arno. Beautiful natural surroundings literally embrace the residential areas. It takes up to thirty minutes to reach the ski slopes. When locals are asked, "Where is the taiga?", they smile and point to the nearby woods.
Rasul Gamzatov, a nationally acclaimed Avar poet, was born on September 8, 1923, 100 years ago. He was the author of "Cranes", perhaps the most touching song lyrics about war and fallen soldiers. Mr. Gamzatov did not write in Russian. Thus, we know his poetry through translations of other Russian poets. Nevertheless, one of his friends said, "Translators are unable to think up anything here".
