Steven Seagal to head Baikal conservation project

The famous Hollywood actor Steven Seagal will deal with the problem of protecting Lake Baikal, RIA Novosti reports. The actor will head the For Truth party's federal environmental project. 

Sigal is confident that the key goal of the project will be to preserve the ecological environment of Lake Baikal. He also believes that it is necessary to introduce criminal liability for environmental pollution.

Earlier, Vladimir Putin supported the idea of ​​holding the Year of Baikal in Russia, it should be worked out with the government.

Steven Seagal received Russian citizenship at the end of 2016. He has said more than once that he really likes to spend time in Russia, that he is delighted with the people who inhabit it, and the various natural beauties simply fascinate.

The actor, born overseas, has visited Russia several times in recent years, including most distant Russian regions - Sakhalin, Kamchatka, Yakutia. Two years ago, the Russian Foreign Ministry appointed him to the post of Special Representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry on the development of humanitarian ties between Russia and the United States.
