The heroization of criminals from the Estonian Legion of Waffen-SS cannot be justified, Russian diplomatic mission in Estonia stated. The Embassy of Russian Federation condemned the holding of a regular rally of veterans of the Estonian Waffen-SS division, which took place in the north-east of the country, in Sinimäe. This is reported on Facebook page of the diplomatic mission.

The congregation of SS followers in Estonia has already become a grim tradition, Russian diplomats noted. They called toasts in honor of accomplices of fascist crimes a blasphemy.

It is especially disturbing that representatives of the younger generation joined the SS veterans. In this way, they are trying to inculcate respect for those who have destroyed millions of innocent people, including prisoners of concentration camps on the Estonian territory.

It is a pity that official Tallinn did not want to condemn this sabbath, Russian Embassy is saying in the message. The undisguised striving for falsifying history and the whitening of Nazi criminals continues.

The shameful action took place in the year when they celebrate the 75th anniversary of the liberation of Estonia from invaders. And this is the best moment to commemorate the real heroes who paid with their lives for peace and freedom for the peoples of the whole world, the Embassy noted.

Official Tallinn should not forget about the decisions of the Nuremberg Tribunal and the Council of the European Union, Russian Embassy is sure. The Estonian authorities were also reminded of the need to honor the memory of the victims of Nazism and to counteract the open glorification of Nazi criminals in Estonia.

As Russkiy Mir reported, the glorification of the Nazi in Estonia is a common practice. In one of the schools of this Baltic republic, the bust of Waffen-SS Untersharführer Harald Nugiseks was previously installed. Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs called this event, timed to the 95th anniversary of the Nazi and accompanied by solemn rulers, a shameful incident. Later in Estonia, a commemorative sign appeared in honor of Waffen-SS Standartführer Alfons Rebane. During the war years, he led the punishers who killed civilians in the occupied territory of the Soviet Union.
