Night Wolves Russian bikers are going to take part in the motorcycle race Kulikovo Field – Kosovo Field, RIA Novosti. Organizers note that the battles, which happened on these fields, are truly important for the history of Russia and Serbia.

Chairman of the Russian motor-tourism Federation Yevgeny Strogov told the journalists that the historians share the view that the battles which happened on these fields are very alike. First of all, Lazar of Serbia and Dmitri of the Don – both joined their lands to protect them from the invaders. Secondly, both fields have names translated as birds (Kos means an ouzel in Serbian, Kulik means a curlew in Russian). However, there is one significant difference – The Battle of Kulikovo liberated Rus from the Tatar Mongol Yoke, whereas the Serbian lands fell under the Turkish rule for many years after this fight.

Strogov states that the project joining two historical fields is hard to implement at present, due to the complicated political situation in the world, as it is almost impossible to come to Kosovo today. Organizers would like to see as many people in Russia as possible getting to know about the events at the Kosovo field and Lazar and would like to see the Serbians being interested in the history of the Battle of Kulikovo.
“We have one history and one root,” Stroganov stressed out.
