Judges’ council ruled in favor of the request of Russian Prosecutor-General’s Office to extradite Vinnik to Russia, as he is a defendant of the criminal case back home too. He is accused of money fraud.

Vinnik agreed to be extradited to Russia and commented that he would like this to happen as soon as possible. At this, he denies the charges claiming that the court has to deal with it.

The prosecutor offered to satisfy Russia’s request.

At this, it is impossible to extradite the Russian citizen right away as legal proceedings at the US request is still going on. Now this case is passed to Areopag – the Superior court of Greece. His extradition should be approved by the head of the Greek legal office.

As per the lawyers, the court dealing with cases of extradition does not touch a question of guilty. The judge investigates if there is enough evidence to extradite the guilty or not.

As per the Russkiy Mir Foundation, American authorities accuse the Russian citizen of currency laundering and creation of the platform for illegal money operations. Alexander Vinnik is considered to manage BTE exchange platform, one of the largest platforms connected to cybercrimes.
