The law enforcement officers of Spain detained in Barcelona thirty-year old IT specialist residing in Saint Petersburg this spring. He is accused of hacker activities by US.

The convict has three days to appeal the court decision.

Washington believes that Levashov controlled Kelihos botnet, which joint thousands of hacked computers. This network was allegedly used for illegal data collection, mass spamming, installation of ransomware and other hostile software.

Moscow as well as Washington is struggling for his extradition.

As per the defender of the detained Levashov Margarita Repina, he denies all accusations. He asked not to extradite him to US as he was sure he would be tortured there.

As Russian foreign ministry has reported earlier, USA are continuing to accuse Russians of hacking avoiding cooperation in the field of provision of cybersecurity.

The Russian diplomats believe that such actions prove that claims against Russia are based on political reasons only.
