Moscow bids farewell to Yevgeny Yevtushenko

A farewell ceremony was served for the late Soviet and Russian poet Yevgeny Yevtushenkoin Moscow’s Central House of Literature, as per RIA Novosti.

It should be reminded that Yevgeny Yevtushenko passed away in U.S. A memorial ceremony for the celebrated poet was held in the city of Tulsa as well, where he taught literature and history of art since 1991. Professors and students of Tulsa University asked his widow and his son to let them give their ultimate send-off to the poet.

The day before, the coffin with body of Yevtushenko was delivered to Moscow. The devotees of his talent and poetry had been queuing at the Central House of Literature since morning. Officials and his admirers came to say farewell to Yevtushenko.

Russian actors, writers and other cultural workers participated in #readingYevtushenko campaign launched today in honor of the great poet. In opinion of actor Anatoly Bely, who is the author of Cinema Poetry educational project and organizer of the campaign, this initiative will make people feel the poetry of Yevtushenko in a new way.

As per Russkiy Mir Foundation, Yevgeny Yevtushenko willed to be buried at the Peredelkino cemetery next to legendary writer Boris Pasternak. The relatives managed to agree on this question with cemetery administration.
