Extreme marathon took place in Yakutia at minus 55 C

The ''Pole of Cold - Oymyakon'' extreme marathon took place on Friday, January, 12, Komsomolskaya Pravda reports. The tournament is being held for the 5th time in the Oymyakon region of Yakutia. This year the temperature dropped to minus 55 C. 

The marathon started in the village of Tomtor. 14 people, including two women, ran 42.2 kilometers to the village of Oymyakon.

The fastest was 24-year-old student Konstantin Dragunov from the Megino-Kangalassky district. It took him 3 hours and 7 minutes to cover the distance. According to him, it was quite difficult on the track, but he managed to get to the finish line. Being the international master of sports in athletics, he has repeatedly won various races. Konstantin Dragunov has been running since an early age.

24 more people completed the half marathon. Its distance was 21.1 kilometers. Among them, the winner was a runner from the city of Pokrovsk, Khangalassky district, Leonid Zykov. it took him to 1 hour 34 minutes to conquer the distance.
