Interest in Orthodoxy is growing in the United States, Bishop Jerome (Sho) said in an interview with RIA Novosti, explaining this as a consequence of attacks on the Orthodox Church abroad (ROCOR) in recent years.

The priest of ROCOR, who converted to Orthodoxy in the 1960s, noted that the American press published almost no information about Orthodoxy, but that was changed by the situation around Yugoslavia and attacks on the Serbian Orthodox Church. According to the bishop, this prompted many US residents to understand the essence of Orthodoxy and join this church.

Bishop Jerome noted that ROCOR changed less than other churches. In particular, the services to this day remain the same as in previous centuries.

The rector of St. George's Church in Utah, Father Michael van Opstall, also noted the growing interest in Orthodoxy in the United States. He said that many young Americans who do not have Russian ancestors come to his temple. The priest believes that they are drawn to Orthodoxy by the desire to ''find a stronger foundation.''
