Young Russian chess player Roman Shogjiev received a gift from the world chess ranking leader Magnus Carlsen, RIA Novosti reports. The former world champion from Norway sent his autographed book to the winner of the world championship among boys under eight years old.

Roman Shogjiev won the world champion title at the tournament, which took place in Egypt in October. He became the winner one stage before the final round, as he scored ten points out of a possible ten.

A week ago the boy beat the winner of the World Chess Olympiad at the World Rapid Championship. The eight-year-old athlete fought with the champion from Uzbekistan, who is 20 years older than him. He also beat Norway's Johan-Sebastian Christiansen. The tournament was held in Samarkand, its prize fund was one million dollars.
