Russian chess player Valentina Gunina won World Blitz Championship

Russian chess player Valentina Gunina became the world blitz champion. The competition is being hosted by Samarkand. Earlier, another representative of Russia, Anastasia Bodnaruk, won the world championship in rapid chess, TASS reports.

Over the course of 17 rounds, Valentina Gunina won 14 points, which brought her to the first line of the championship. In the last match of the tournament, the Russian woman beat the representative of Ukraine Anna Muzychuk.

Gunina was ahead of second-place finisher Alexandra Kosteniuk, who had previously switched from the Russian to the Swiss team. Eleven years ago, Valentina Gunina became the best at the World Blitz Championship. In addition, the Russian won the European Championships three times and the national championships five times.
