Anti-Russian sentiments prevail among German politicians, says Russian Ambassador Sergei Nechaev. In his opinion, every attempt to change the position of the Establishment in Germany is declared propaganda, RIA Novosti reports. The ambassador noted that for visiting the Russian embassy a person could be fired from their job or publicly condemned.
Sergei Nechaev is regretful that Russian citizens still have to deal with discrimination in Germany. He added that its scale has decreased somewhat compared to the spring and summer of last year. However, restrictions still exist. Among other things, customs confiscates cars from Russians, explaining that they are capable of generating income that will be used to destabilize the situation in Ukraine. Even Christmas gifts will be confiscated, the ambassador added. He assured that Moscow is making efforts to help Russians, providing them with consular, legal and advisory support.
Woolen mittens, socks, scarves and other Christmas gifts are taken away by customs officers at the German border. The Association for the Prevention of Discrimination and Exclusion of Russian Germans and Russian-Speaking Fellow Citizens in Germany (VADAR) noted that these actions not only contradict common sense, but also violate human rights.
