About 1,000 students from Russian weekend schools in the Netherlands took part in New Year's matinees with Father Frost, Snow Maiden and other characters from Russian fairy tales. The events were held by educational institutions and the Coordination Council of Russian Compatriots in the Netherlands with the support of the Russian Embassy in the Netherlands, the Council's website reports.

Festive performances were organized for children and adolescents aged from two to 18 years old, attending Russian schools and studying the Russian language. The matinee program included songs in Russian, dances, and competitions in the company of Father Frost, Snow Maiden, Baba Yaga, Koshchei, Leshy, and other characters of Russian folk tales.
